MIDTERM STUDY GUIDE
- I. TRANSLATION
Two passages of approximately 12 lines each.
- One seen passage, one sight passage taken from Books 1-2
- No dictionary or grammar card, obscure vocabulary will be provided.
- II. PARSING
Five words underlined in Translation section for which you
will be asked to identify the morphology (form) and syntax (function)
- III. SCANSION
Scan one line of dactylic hexameter taken from a translation passage.
- IIII.SHORT ESSAY
You will be asked to discuss one of the Translation passages.
Be able to identify it and to cite examples drawn from your translations
of the myths in Books 1-2.
